LABORATORIES

1. Geotechnical Lab

Soil is one of the very important engineering materials. Determination of soil conditions is the most significant task in every civil engineering activity. Properties of the soil can be determined by both field and laboratory test methods. It is critical to quantify the various properties of soil to predict its behaviour under different loading conditions for the safe design of soil structures. This laboratory is a compulsory and basic undergraduate course for Civil Engineering students, along with those undergraduate students of agricultural Engineering also required soil laboratory work. The test results is used by geotechnical engineer for designing the type of foundations, earthworks such as dams, embankments, tunnels, reservoirs, pavement subgrades, and specialized applications like waste containment systems. Geotechnical laboratory is equipped with enough facility to handle soil exploration programme in consultancy projects across the country.
