Design of Irrigation Canals at Anupam Upvan

The Department was involved in the design and construction of surface irrigation canals at Anupam Upvan of total area of 71 acres.  The survey of the land was done and based on maximum and minimum reduced level most suited alignment of canals were identified. Since initially land was very undulated, Levelling of whole area where carried out to maintain such slope of minimum scouring and sedimentation of silt (Lacey ‘s Design) so that irrigation water could flow under the action of gravity. The design of the open channels along with cross-drainage works where carried out in the Department followed by construction at site.

The design and construction were carried out under the supervision of Assistant Professor Mr. Devesh Jaysawal in coordination with Mr. Vipin Layal (Chief Engineer, DEI).

Winter Camp

The Department is involved in conducting the Bridge Making Competition for students of higher secondary classes in the Winter Camp held during December. The construction and testing of model bridges promotes the study and application of fundamental principles physics and also helps high school students develop "hands on" skills through bridge construction. The competition also explores the hidden talents and generate confidence among the students.

Structural Design

The Department is involved in the structural design of constructions at DEI and Anupam Upvan site. These include designs for steel trusses, industrial shed, canopies, check dams, canals, storm water drainage, overhead water tanks, slope protection structures, etc. The Department has also vetted the structural designs of consultancy projects such as Agra Smart City
